Front Camera Vs Rear Camera, who wins in 2020?

If you’ve been given a choice to choose between a phone which has a better front (selfie) camera, vs a phone with a good rear (back) camera, which one would you choose?

Obviously, the one that makes you look good.

But, what if both make you look good in their own way?

We all know that the rear camera has more Mega Pixels as compared to the front camera

ALSO, there has never been a phone which has more Mega Pixels for the front camera (nothing I know of).

Then why this choice between the two cameras?

We’ll today, try to see which camera actually gives us “good” pictures!

There are two different aspects to compare in a smartphone’s Front and Rear camera:

  • Quality
  • Frequency of use

Selfie Camera

The first front facing Camera was introduced in 2003 by Sony Ericsson and Motorola.

The original purpose of the front camera was Business Video Conferencing, where what mattered was showing your face as a proof of your existence.

But now with an increase in the number of single people around, it has given rise to the selfie camera concept making it a bonafide art.

front camera vs back camera

The higher the camera resolution, the better is the picture quality. The front camera normally has less resolution than the back camera, hence the picture quality differs.

Looking at yourself while using your phone is the trend of half the social media networks.

There are major apps that majorly work on this thing. Like we have Snapchat, Instagram etc.

All these selfie-centric platforms give importance to the face, giving birth to our biggest enemy- our ego.

Rear Camera

According to me, Rear (Back) camera is the one that matters basically because of its purpose.

It was made to take pictures and videos to make memories.

From the discovery point of view, it is kind of an art (talking specifically about photography).

Also, front cameras are far from reaching the quality of the main ones.

front camera vs back camera

Some smartphones have poor selfie camera, whereas if we see even a mid-range smartphone, it has a decent rear camera.

Now that we’ve already talked about the quality of both the cameras, let’s talk about the frequency of their use.

To measure the frequency of use for your cameras, you can try splitting all your pictures among the two cameras.

Every other person will notice that there are more images clicked from the front camera, even though the pictures quality isn’t that good.

Because it is most of the times better to have memories with your face in it.

front camera vs back camera

There must be hundreds of photographers who have already clicked the Eiffel Tower or the Taj Mahal or whatever other attraction you’re visiting.

So, apparently people take selfies because they have no one to click you picture.

What if you can click your pictures (not just selfies, but good candid pictures) even when no one’s around?

One such options to click good picture without any hassle that I know of, is an app called Fotoshoto.

What actually is Fotoshoto?

Fotoshoto is the remote control of your phone camera.

Just like the Bluetooth Selfie Remote controller that we can get online, Fotoshoto helps you click your pictures, without any struggle.

How does Fotoshoto work?

  • Install fotoshoto on two android phones.
  • Create User id on both phones.
  • Open fotoshoto app on both phones.
  • Make sure both phones are kept close by.
  • Click on Pair New Device on any one phone.
  • App will start searching for another phone. It might take few seconds to search.
  • Once other phone is searched, click on it to Pair.
  • The other phone will get Pairing Request. Accept it.
  • Once paired, you can view the photo preview from one phone to another.
  • Pose as you wish and click!

Where can we download Fotoshoto?

As of now, Fotoshoto is available for all Android Devices on Play Store.

You can download Fotoshoto here!

Wrapping Up

Even though Selfies are a social evil, we all click a lot of them, because mostly we don’t have someone to click our picture.

Sure we can ask someone (for the sake of good picture quality of the rear-mounted camera).

But most of times, we end up looking more awkward than ever.

Clearly, the competition here between the front camera vs rear camera is fifty-fifty, what do you think?

Which camera according to you is the main one?
